MB-spot test is extensively applied to specific surface area measurement due to its simplicity except for classical BET test. However, MB-spot test is vulnerable to multiple factors, making this newly-prevalent technique unable to anticipate specific surface area accurately. The inaccuracy of this method is discussed here at length, which is urgent to avoid mistakes and inconsistencies regarding specific surface area characterization for carbon-based materials.
